Guided tour of Freiburg

Monday, March 18 from 6:00pm to 7:30pm, meeting point: in front of the city hall at the fountain

Taking about 90 minutes, a guide will take you on a leisurely walk through the old city centre and introduce you to Freiburg's history. The tour will be in English and costs 8 € per person. Session for the public: Zahlen können auch lügen - Wer mit Statistik umzugehen weiß, trifft bessere Entscheidungen

Monday, March 18 from 8:00pm to 10:00pm, location: Freiburg University KG 2, Audimax

To illustrate that statistics plays a key role in daily life and that it is important for many decisions, we will present some simple examples in this session for the lay public. The aim is to increase general knowledge on some basic statistical principles. All talks will be given in German. Registration is not necessary. Please find further information here.

Guided tour through Uniseum in English

Tuesday, March 19 from 12:15pm to 12:45pm, meeting point: conference office at 12:05pm

Founded in 1457, the University of Freiburg ranks among the oldest universities in Germany. A guide will take you on a 30-minute tour through the Uniseum where milestones of its history up to present days are illustrated in a fascinating exhibition. The tour is free of charge. Tickets will be given out at the conference office on a first-come-first-served basis (maximum number of participants: 25).

Welcome reception                                    NOTE: Please bring your name badge with you!

Tuesday, March 19 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm, location: Historisches Kaufhaus

The welcome reception will take place in the Historisches Kaufhaus (Historic Merchants Hall). Costs are included in the conference registration fee - please enrol during online registration. Please be aware that the number of participants is limited (300). Your labeled name badge will be your ticket.

Guided tour of Freiburg Cathedral Gate

Wednesday, March 20 from 12:15pm to 12:45pm, meeting point: conference office at 12:05pm

Walk to the nearby Freiburger Münster and a short lecture in English on the cathedral's famous gate and its rich history. The tour will cost 5€ per person.To inquire further information please follow this link. To sign up please send an e-mail to baerbel.schaetzle@gmx.de until March 10.

Poster & Wine

Wednesday, March 20 at 6:00pm, location: Freiburg University KG 1, first floor

Poster & Wine is a social event integrated into the scientific program of the conference: Wine from the local winery Staatsweingut Freiburg will be served during the poster session. Costs are included in the registration fee. If you like the local wine, you will have the opportunity to buy more. Conditions are posted here (in German) and here (in English).

Conference dinner                                                 NOTE: Please bring your ticket with you!

Thursday, March 21 from 7:00pm to 11:00pm
meeting point: conference office at 6:30 pm or Schlossbergrestaurant Dattler at 7:00pm

The conference dinner will be held at Schlossbergrestaurant Dattler - a splendid occasion to meet and taste excellent cuisine while enjoying a beautiful panorama of the city of Freiburg by night. Please enrol during  online registration (50 € per person). The number of participants is limited (300). Tickets will be given out to enrolled participants at the conference office.

Please note that Schlossbergrestaurant Dattler is about 10 minutes uphill walk from the Stadtgarten park. A cable train (Schlossbergbahn) is available for those who do not wish to walk. Information on tickets is available here.

Farewell get-together                                                   ---NEW---

Friday, March 22 from 3:30pm to 6:00pm
meeting point: conference office at 3:15 pm or Hausbrauerei Feierling at 3:30pm

To round off the conference, come along and join the organisers in a leisurely pub visit at Hausbrauerei Feierling (own expense). Registration is not necessary.
